The Novgorod Region has dispatched its first batch of high-quality seed potatoes to support the spring sowing campaign in the Belgorod Region, marking another successful interregional agricultural collaboration. A total of 40 tons of the “Innovator” variety were loaded for transport after passing rigorous inspections by the Rosselkhoznadzor (Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance). Inspectors verified that the tubers met strict quality standards: they must be healthy, intact, with firm skin, dry, and unsprouted, while their shape and color must strictly correspond to the botanical variety. Samples were taken from the batch and sent to the Novgorod department of the Northwest Branch of the “VNIIZZ” (Federal State Budgetary Institution “All-Russian Plant Quarantine Center”) to test for the presence of quarantine pests.
Following successful laboratory analyses confirming the seed potatoes met all phytosanitary requirements, a quarantine certificate was issued for the shipment. The produce was then dispatched by road to its destination in the Belgorod Region. It is worth noting that this is not the first instance of the Novgorod Region sharing its agricultural resources; last year, the neighboring Leningrad Region received 60 tons of seed potatoes from Novgorod for their planting needs.
