The sowing campaign is ongoing in the Republic of Buryatia. According to the regional government, despite a cold spring and frequent rainfall that have affected the timing of field work, agricultural producers are steadily moving toward meeting their targets. The leaders in sowing progress are the Mukhorshibirsky District (83.3% of the plan), the Tarbagataisky District (83%), and the Ivolginsky District (77.9%). Grain crops account for the majority of plantings, covering 45.4 thousand hectares, or 75.2% of the total area. Potatoes and vegetables have been planted on 7 thousand hectares, while industrial crops cover 5.6 thousand hectares.
In recent years, Buryatia has seen growing interest in industrial crops, particularly oilseeds, which offer promising opportunities for export and additional farm income. For example, the Tarbagataisky District exceeded its plan for industrial crops by 240%, and the Bichursky District by 128.2%. Medicinal plant cultivation is also expanding. This year, over 300 hectares of medicinal herbs will be planted across the Selenginsky, Ivolginsky, Zaigrayevsky, Tarbagataisky, Mukhorshibirsky, Kyakhtinsky, and Dzhidinsky districts.
