Agricultural enterprises and farmers in Trans-Baikal have completed potato planting, with the total area under cultivation reaching 617 hectares. According to Albina Koreshkova, head of the regional Ministry of Agriculture, this exceeds last year’s figure of 589 hectares by 5%. The Chita District emerged as the leader in planting efforts, where farms are expected to harvest potatoes from 309 hectares this autumn. Significant planting volumes were also recorded in the Uletovsky District (187 hectares) and the Karymsky District (71 hectares). Additionally, potatoes were planted in Alexandrovo-Zavodsky, Baleysky, Gazimuro-Zavodsky, Krasnochikoysky, Sretensky, Chernyshevsky, and Aginsky municipal districts.
Meanwhile, Trans-Baikal farmers are finalizing the planting of open-ground vegetables. To date, work has been completed on 49 hectares, which represents 80% of the planned area. The spring sowing campaign is expected to conclude this week with the planting of cabbage seedlings.
