For farmers and agricultural professionals, selecting a potato variety that balances productivity and ease of care is paramount. The “Bogatyr” potato stands out as a high-yielding, low-maintenance variety that has quickly gained popularity among gardeners and farmers alike.

What Makes the “Bogatyr” Special?

Developed by skilled breeders, “Bogatyr” is notable for its large tubers, excellent flavor, and simplicity of care. Unlike most potato varieties, which demand regular hilling, “Bogatyr” thrives without it, producing up to 12 kilograms of tubers per plant. This late-maturing variety takes approximately 130 days from planting to harvest. Its tubers store well and are versatile in the kitchen, ideal for frying, boiling, soups, and salads.

Growth Characteristics

“Bogatyr” plants grow to a height of 60 centimeters and exhibit resilience to both drought and heavy rainfall. When cultivated using proper agricultural techniques, the crop remains resistant to diseases and pests. The average tuber weighs around 80 grams, but under optimal conditions, weights of up to 300 grams have been reported.

Planting and Care Tips

To achieve the best results, follow these planting guidelines:

  • Maintain a spacing of 30-35 centimeters between holes and 60-65 centimeters between rows.
  • In sandy soils, plant tubers 8-10 centimeters deep, while in heavier soils, 5-6 centimeters is sufficient.

Hilling is not required and can even be counterproductive, as “Bogatyr” plants spread horizontally up to 50 centimeters. Additional soil layers may hinder their growth.

The “Bogatyr” potato offers a practical solution for farmers seeking high yields with minimal effort. Its robust nature, excellent storage properties, and versatility in cooking make it a valuable addition to any farm. By following proper planting and care practices, farmers can fully harness its potential.
