Several agricultural producers in the Kostroma region have agreed to sell their potatoes and vegetables at reduced prices during the upcoming Easter fairs. Local farms possess substantial stocks of produce and have decided to distribute them in large volumes directly to consumers. Deputy Governor Alexander Svistunov noted that negotiations with farmers have begun, and while they continue to supply stores and social institutions, a number of farms have also agreed to trade at the fairs, bypassing intermediaries. The trading schedule will be adjusted depending on the price situation.
Selling without intermediaries will allow residents of Kostroma to buy products much cheaper than in regular stores. This move is expected to curb the traditional price increase that occurs before the start of the new harvest season, making fresh produce more affordable for local buyers during the holiday fairs.
