Yaroslavl Region Boosts Agricultural Support: Over $1.4 Million Allocated for Potato and Vegetable Production in 2026
The Yaroslavl Region is stepping up its systematic support for agricultural producers, with funding for potato and vegetable cultivation set to increase by 29% in 2026 compared to the previous year, reaching approximately 35 million rubles (about $1.4 million). According to Governor Mikhail Yevrayev, total state support for crop farming this year will amount to 126.6 million rubles, of which 71.9 million rubles will come from the federal budget. The subsidies, provided under the regional agricultural development program for 2024–2030, cover a wide range of priorities, including agrotechnological operations, soil fertility improvement, elite seed breeding, and both open-field and greenhouse vegetable production. Eligible recipients include agricultural producers, research institutions, and educational organizations operating in the region, provided they are registered as small businesses and meet the relevant criteria.
The sowing campaign has already been completed, with potatoes planted on 2,500 hectares and open-ground vegetables on 900 hectares. Oilseed crops now occupy 2,800 hectares, while grain crops exceed 30,000 hectares. Currently, farmers are focused on fodder procurement, with plans to harvest 40,000 tonnes of hay, 600,000 tonnes of silage, and 130,000 tonnes of haylage. At the same time, the region continues to modernize its agricultural machinery fleet. Through the regional leasing company Yaroslavlagropromtekhsnab, over 80 modern machines and units worth 500 million rubles will be delivered to local farms this year. Notable acquisitions include a potato planter for Agrosfera LLC, a harvesting and primary processing line for Nekrasovsky Potato LLC, and a Belarus tractor for the Novy Put agricultural cooperative. Last year, 16 farms received similar subsidies, underscoring the region’s commitment to stable growth and technological renewal in the sector.
