In the Lebap region (velayat) of Turkmenistan, 1,400 hectares have been allocated for spring potato planting this year, with an expected harvest of 19,600 tons. Farmers aim to achieve a yield of 140 centners (14 tons) per hectare and are currently providing careful crop care to support normal growth and increase productivity. Additionally, 900 hectares have been devoted to spring onions, from which growers anticipate collecting 22,500 tons of onions over the season, targeting up to 250 centners (25 tons) per hectare.
Among the various districts (etraps), the largest potato plantings are in Charjev etrap — 380 hectares, expected to yield 5,320 tons. Dyanev etrap has planted 300 hectares (target 4,200 tons), Sayat etrap 200 hectares (2,800 tons), and Kerkin etrap 150 hectares (2,100 tons). For spring onions, vegetable growers in Dovletli etrap (260 hectares, goal of 6,500 tons) and Charjev etrap (250 hectares, goal of 6,250 tons) stand out for their ambitious targets. All efforts are part of the region’s broader strategy to ensure food security and maximize agricultural output.
