On June 12, the “Yun Wuyi · Zheng Gaoshan” Zhenghe high-mountain potato brand launch and high-quality agricultural product matchmaking event was held in Daxi Village, Yangyuan Township, Zhenghe County, Fujian Province. Zhenghe, known as “China’s High-Mountain Vegetable Capital,” has been actively developing its specialty potato industry under the province’s “323X” modern green industrial system. This year, the county planted 17,000 mu (approximately 1,133 hectares) of potatoes, including 600 mu of new varieties in high-altitude and semi-high-altitude areas. The county has earned multiple accolades, including being named a provincial GAP-standard agricultural export demonstration county and a national agricultural standardization demonstration county. In 2024 and 2025, Zhenghe ranked among the top three in Fujian for growth in “Three Products and One Standard” certifications. Currently, the county boasts 24 organic-certified products, 143 green-certified products, and four Zhenghe potato operators with green food certification, while four specialty products including “Zhenghe Potato” have been listed in the national catalog of famous, special, and high-quality agricultural products. In 2025, Zhenghe was officially included in the national list of major vegetable-producing counties.
According to Professor Fu Jianwei, Director of the Crop Research Institute at the Fujian Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Zhenghe is situated along the 27°N golden agricultural belt, where mountain spring water is naturally filtered through volcanic rock layers, nourishing the crops. The growing season features a diurnal temperature variation exceeding 10°C, which promotes dry matter accumulation in potatoes, resulting in a soft, glutinous texture and rich, aromatic flavor. The local soil, developed from Jurassic volcanic rock, is notably rich in beneficial trace elements such as zinc and selenium. The production areas fully adopt standardized cultivation practices established by the academy, using organic fertilizers as the primary nutrient source and applying no pesticides throughout the growing cycle. All 89 pesticide residue tests on potato products from major cooperatives returned zero results, confirming them as pure, high-quality green agricultural products. The launch event also featured licensing and purchase agreement signings, a parent-child educational activity, and a cooking competition highlighting Zhenghe high-mountain potatoes as the main ingredient. Additionally, live-streaming and new media campaigns were conducted to help bring these premium products out of the mountainous region, effectively broadening sales channels and boosting brand visibility.
