Additionally, potassium helps maintain healthy blood pressure levels. The specialist also notes that one medium Russet potato contains about a quarter of the daily recommended amount of vitamin C, which supports tissue growth and repair, boosts immunity through its antioxidant function, and helps reduce the risk of chronic diseases.
Beyond potassium and vitamin C, potatoes offer other valuable nutrients. They contain phenolic compounds that help reduce inflammation and regulate the immune system, as well as vitamin B6, which is important for heart and nervous system health. When it comes to fiber, one medium baked potato with the skin provides 10 to 20 percent of the daily recommended intake.
