The Scientific and Technical Council of the Department of Agroindustrial Complex of the Tyumen Region visited the field where the legendary wheat variety “Tyumenskaya-80” was bred. Then followed a whole cycle of varieties of different crops, in demand throughout Russia. And today, breeders have two new potato varieties on their way, according to the information policy department of the Northern Trans-Urals GAU.

According to the deputy governor, head of the regional department of the agro-industrial complex Vladimir Cheimetov, Tyumen breeders can equally produce not just competitive varieties, but those that give the best result in the natural and climatic conditions of the region.

“Agricultural producers most often use crops of Tyumen selection, and in nineteen regions of the Russian Federation, varieties of Tyumen oats are zoned and in demand,” he noted. young scientists talk meaningfully about their approaches, developments and that a lot can be done for our producers in terms of food security.”

The educational and experimental field of the university was created in 1962. Today, on 102 hectares, farmers grow potatoes, wheat, rye, barley, oats, alfalfa, beets, corn, peas, flax and other crops, including by order of agricultural producers. University scientists are engaged in their selection, explore various cultivation technologies, types and doses of mineral fertilizers, methods, rates and terms of sowing, as well as diseases, pests, the use and effect of chemical and biological preparations on crops, study soil fertility, productivity and quality of cereal crops and vegetables.

“Students and teachers cultivate various crops here for a specific climatic zone in order to bring them to production and crop rotation in the future,” said Elena Boyko, rector of the State Agrarian University of the Northern Trans-Urals. “Representatives of the university are digitizing the fields in order to correctly select the right fertilizer and its amount for a certain area. This allows you to increase yields and reduce production costs. “
