Vegetable Farms Complete Potato Planting: Area Reaches 710 Hectares Despite Weather Challenges

Vegetable farms in the region have completed potato planting for this season. According to preliminary data, the area under the crop in the organized sector reached 710 hectares, matching last year’s level. The largest potato areas are located in Engelssky District with 580 hectares, followed by Sovetsky District with 55 hectares and Lysogorsky District with 50 hectares. Across all categories of farms in the region, a total of 6.8 thousand hectares have been allocated to potatoes. The regional Ministry of Agriculture emphasized that state support was one of the effective mechanisms that contributed to the successful completion of field work despite challenging weather conditions.

This year, within the framework of the federal project “Development of Vegetable and Potato Growing,” potato farmers in the region received state support exceeding five million rubles. Vasily Kotov, Deputy Chairman of the Regional Government and Minister of Agriculture, stated that this tangible and effective measure helps farmers reduce financial burdens and carry out agrotechnical work in a timely manner year after year. He also noted that potato and vegetable farms are now focused on achieving the project’s targets, which call for an 18% increase in potato production in the organized sector by 2030 and a 20% increase in vegetable production.
