Tomsk Region Launches Harvest Campaign with Early Potato and Vegetable Yields Amid Stable Fuel Supply
The Tomsk region has officially kicked off its 2026 harvest campaign, with farms beginning selective potato and vegetable digging for commercial sale. Among the first to start were Sergey Lipovka’s farm in Shegarsky District and OOO Zarechnoye in Tomsky District, which has already harvested 25 tonnes of potatoes per hectare alongside significant volumes of other vegetables—100 tonnes of cabbage from 5 hectares, 50 tonnes of beets, and 30 tonnes of carrots from 1 hectare each. The region is also advancing its grain and legume harvest, having threshed 30,100 tonnes from 10,100 hectares (nearly 8% of the regional plan) at an average yield of 29.7 centners per hectare, with primary focus on winter crops and peas. Simultaneously, farmers are preparing fields for the next season with nearly 1,900 hectares of fall plowing completed, while winter feed procurement has surpassed the halfway mark.
In support of the campaign, regional authorities have ensured stable fuel supplies above federal limits, with ongoing coordination with oil companies to control prices and deliveries, as confirmed by Governor Vladimir Mazur. The region’s agricultural sector is benefiting from proactive logistical planning aimed at minimizing disruptions during the busy harvest period. With favourable early yields and comprehensive preparations for both current and next-season operations, Tomsk’s farmers are positioning themselves for a productive autumn, though full results will depend on weather conditions in the coming weeks as the main harvesting phase intensifies across grain, potato, and vegetable crops.
