In recent years, the municipal government of Zoucheng City, China has been prioritizing the implementation of rural revitalization strategies. The festival is traditionally opened by performances of famous residents of the region and popular music groups. The 12th Potato Festival, dedicated to the theme “Endless radiance of the potato, turning the earth into gold, harmony and prosperity in Kanzhuang”, held 12 major sports and cultural events. More than 2000 people took part in them.
As part of the festival, a contract was also signed for the export of 500 tons of Kanzhuang potatoes to Russia.
According to statistics, near Kanzhuang City, potatoes are cultivated on an area of more than 30,000 acres, with an annual harvest of more than 150,000 tons, and a production value of up to 400 million yuan, making the region the largest potato growing and trading base in Jining County. Using its resources and unique advantages, Kanzhuang City has adopted an industrial operating model based on the interaction of cooperatives, enterprises and farmers. The city has focused on improving infrastructure, strengthening technical support, improving product branding, expanding online and offline sales channels, and improving storage and merchandising capabilities. These efforts contributed to the development of the industry. Kanzhuang Potatoes brand has passed the national organic food certification, received the national geographic indication trademark, and has been included in the national catalog of outstanding new agricultural products. Potatoes have also become the only agricultural product in Jining County to be covered by a province-wide special target price insurance policy.
At the same time, the first batch of potatoes from Kanzhuang, exported directly to Russia through the port of Heilongjiang Dongning, became an important milestone, symbolizing the global expansion of the product. The recognition received at the China Conference on Creating Agricultural Welfare (Best Agricultural Product award) reaffirms the importance of the Kanzhuang potato as a driving force behind the renaissance of agriculture, turning the potato into a valuable asset and the land on which it is grown into a “treasure trove”. » for the city.
