Russia: Sakhalin Cooperative Grows 1,000-Tonne Potato Storage After 25-Million-Ruble Grant

Agricultural cooperative Uspenskoye, among 300+ Sakhalin farmers backed by state grants, used a 25-million-ruble 2024 award to build 1,000 tonnes of vegetable storage capacity.

More than 300 Sakhalin region farmers have used state grant support through the «Moy Biznes» (My Business) program since its launch, regional business-support portal moybiznes.rf reported on 19 October 2026.

Among the recipients, the agricultural consumer cooperative «Uspenskoye» — the region’s largest, with 21 member farms, founded in 2023 by grower Maria Smolina — won a competitive grant of 25 million rubles in 2024 to modernize and equip a vegetable storage facility with 1,000-tonne capacity. The cooperative, which started with 50 tonnes of potatoes, can now take in up to 800 tonnes of vegetables per season for storage. It supplies retail chains in southern Sakhalin and food for children’s homes, and also sends produce for freeze-dried products to military personnel.

The region runs more than 40 agricultural support measures, including grants for equipment, storage and greenhouse construction, Sakhalin’s acting deputy minister of agriculture and trade, Olga Shkardyuk, told the portal.
