A significant partnership has been formed between Danish potato ingredients manufacturer AKV and British ingredients supplier Daymer Ingredients. This collaboration will see Daymer distributing AKV’s native and clean-label functional potato starches throughout the UK, furthering their mission to provide food manufacturers with natural and sustainable ingredients.

Meeting the Demand for Clean-Label Ingredients

AKV’s Clean & Simple range of potato starches is designed to meet the increasing demand for clean-label and functional ingredients in the food industry. These starches are developed using an energy and water-efficient process and are known for their high peak viscosities, making them ideal for a variety of applications including soups, noodles, extruded products, meat, sauces, cheese processing, and dry mixes. The cooperative structure of AKV ensures full traceability, with all raw materials sourced within a 60km radius of their plant, enhancing the sustainability and quality of their products.

James Brace, Managing Director of Daymer Ingredients, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “We’re thrilled to welcome AKV as our latest supply partner and know that our customers will be keen to incorporate its high-quality potato starches into their products. We continue to seek out the best partners who share our commitment to bringing the most sustainable, natural, and planet-friendly ingredients to the UK food and beverage market. With AKV’s industry-recognized background in potato ingredients, we look forward to exploring new ways to tackle functionality through clear labels and native starches.”

A Sustainable and Traceable Solution

AKV’s Chief Commercial Officer, Bjarne Larsen, emphasized the alignment of values between AKV and Daymer Ingredients. “British consumers want clean labels and sustainably sourced ingredients and together, we are well placed to help food manufacturers to meet those needs. We look forward to a fruitful partnership!” Larsen added.

This collaboration is part of a broader strategy by Daymer Ingredients to enhance the quality and sustainability of the ingredients they supply. Earlier this year, Daymer also announced a strategic partnership with Agrain, a Danish specialist in up-cycled spent grain ingredients, aimed at improving the sustainability and quality of baked goods.

The partnership between Daymer Ingredients and AKV represents a significant step towards providing British food manufacturers with high-quality, sustainable, and clean-label potato starches. As the demand for transparent and environmentally friendly ingredients continues to rise, collaborations like this will be essential in meeting consumer expectations and advancing the food industry towards a more sustainable future.
