A new storage and sorting complex for elite seed potatoes is set to be completed in the Shatura urban district of Moscow Oblast by the third quarter of 2026. The facility, which is already 92% ready according to the Main Directorate of State Construction Supervision of Moscow Oblast, will handle the reception, storage, and post-harvest processing of elite seed potato varieties before sale. The developer, Agrofarm Company “Agroforward,” specializes in growing elite varieties. Its branch in the Voskresensk urban district is developing these varieties as part of import substitution efforts, while potatoes are grown on 175 hectares of fields in Shatura, cultivating up to 15 varieties adapted to different climatic conditions. The company supplies its products to large agricultural firms across Russia, as far as the Kamchatka Krai.
The new building will cover over 11,500 square meters with an annual production capacity of nearly 15,500 tons — equivalent to one quarter of all seed potatoes produced in the Moscow region. The complex is designed to receive, store, and process elite seed potatoes after harvest and before sale. Completion of construction and commissioning of the new facility are planned for the third quarter of 2026. The project represents a key step in Russia’s import substitution strategy, aimed at providing domestic agricultural companies with high-quality local seed material.
