Now is the time for serious earnings from grain growers. For the sake of attractive numbers on the payroll, rural workers work without holidays and days off.
The Sputnik correspondent found out what records in the payroll are set by the grain growers of the Gomel region and what they spend their earnings on.
During the harvesting period, combine operators earn from three to four thousand, says Vladimir Dorofei, who was the first in the Gomel region to thresh a thousand tons of grain. To earn such amounts, you need to work hard, as they say, “from dawn to dusk.” The man has not looked into his payslip yet, but he is sure that his work at the enterprise “Sovetskaya Belorussia” OJSC “Rechitsa KHP” will be appreciated. This farm has been a grain grower for 20 years, and it is the seventh season of harvesting.

“Dirty hands are a sign of clean money,” the combine operator jokes, gobbling up rich pickle right in the field. Lunch is almost the only opportunity to take a breath.
The fair-haired distributor Veronika puts mashed potatoes on the second, as in childhood, with homemade sausage. No one stands near the workers with a stopwatch, but the grain growers finish their tea on the go. “In harvesting, every second counts,” the thousand’s man shouts from the cab of his iron “field monster”. A minute later, his crew is hiding in the field.
The second thousand tons of grain threshed in the region was shipped from the bunker of Andrey Sosnok’s combine. He works on the same collective farm as Vladimir. “Almost immediately from school I went to the field, more than 15 years in this area,” says the grain grower, turning over the golden ears in his hands, periodically throwing the grain into his mouth.

– Professional habit? we are interested.

  • Not only. This is how you can determine the readiness of the grain for harvesting “by a tooth”: soft – still wet, hard – is about to crumble.

The man is reluctant to talk about the salary, but hints that now combine operators earn no worse than IT people. The village worker manages his money rationally: no iPhones or Mercedes. He says that it is better to spend money on home improvement, education of children.
Sergey recalls how in one year all the combine operators of the enterprise threshed a thousand tons of grain. According to him, then the harvest was good, and the weather did not disappoint.
Despite the fact that the work of a man is serious, there is a place for sentimental stories of salvation. “Often we save little hares, take out nests with birds, rodents themselves flee. Wild goats are also not uncommon in the field,” says the combine operator.

When it comes to rest, workers unanimously say that you can forget about it during the harvest. They have a well-deserved vacation in the winter. Then you can go fishing and spend time with your family watching movies.

Andrei Sosnok, for example, in his forties has never been to the sea. But this is not because there are no funds, but rather a lack of free time and desire.
“To be honest, I don’t even want to go to Egypt, I like our Dnieper, nature,” the thousand-man says without signs of slyness on his face. The most valuable thing for him is his family and the opportunity to work with dignity in the field. And you can easily believe in it when you see a professional in action.

According to Viktor Gavrilenko, the director of the agricultural enterprise “Sovetskaya Belorussiya” OJSC “Rechitsa KHP”, they are often leaders in terms of threshing and the number of thousandths. The cleaning company is already at the finish line. It remains to collect less than a quarter of all grain.
Mass harvesting in the republic continues.
Nearly 4 million tons of grain have been threshed in Belarus. The leaders are Brest region. They’ve already crossed the million milestone.
