An agricultural enterprise in Arkhangelsk has successfully launched full-cycle seed potato production, operating right within the city limits on the Left Bank. During a visit to the Lyubovskoye agricultural complex, Arkhangelsk Mayor Dmitry Morev noted that the farm has become a notable example of successful agricultural development in an urban setting. Under sanctions, the company, led by director Vladimir Petrovsky, focused on popular seed potato varieties and built a complete production chain — from laboratory cultivation of planting material to large-scale field operations.
Remarkably, the harsh northern climate has proven to be an advantage rather than a hindrance: deep soil freezing naturally eliminates pests, while the white nights provide plants with additional light, accelerating their growth and development. Arkhangelsk seed potatoes are now being purchased by agricultural producers from Nizhny Novgorod, Bashkortostan, and other regions of Russia. In parallel, the enterprise is developing a microgreens division, supplying northerners with fresh vitamins year-round. City authorities plan to continue supporting the local producer by helping allocate land for greenhouses and expanding the chain of company stores.
