Farmers and lessees in Turkmenistan’s Balkan velayat have begun harvesting their potato crop, with growers in the Bereket etrap aiming for a record-breaking 5,320 tonnes of spring potatoes this season. The crop, cultivated on 380 hectares using disease-resistant varieties, has demonstrated excellent yields. All seasonal work combined scientific methods with ancient farming traditions and modern best practices, with the etrap’s specialists consistently meeting their targets year after year and setting an example for other farmers across the velayat.
The harvest is now in its final stages, with specialized agricultural machinery ensuring efficient and loss-free collection of this nutritious crop. Experienced farmers from the daikhan associations named after S.A. Niyazov, “Isgender,” and the “Nusgavy meydan” farm have made significant contributions to the campaign’s success. As they complete the potato harvest, local agrarians have already begun plowing the freed fields, preparing for winter potato planting for the next season’s crop. According to experts, effective preparation for the upcoming season provides a solid foundation for achieving even higher results in the future.
