Farmers in Turkmenistan’s Dashoguz Region have begun harvesting this year’s potato crop, which was planted across a total area of 8,800 hectares, according to the news source “Turkmenistan: Golden Age.” The campaign was率先 launched by the “10 ýyl Abadanlyk” agricultural association in the Boldumsaz District, where potatoes were cultivated on 345 hectares. Meanwhile, the “G. Atamedow” association, though working with a slightly smaller planted area, aims to harvest up to 840 tons of potatoes. High-paced harvesting is also underway in the S. Turkmenbashi District, where 500 hectares have been dedicated to potato production this season.

Local agricultural officials attribute the consistently strong yields achieved in recent years to the careful selection of the most suitable potato varieties. By prioritizing high-yielding, disease-resistant, and low-maintenance cultivars that are well-adapted to local soil and climatic conditions, farmers are able to secure both quantitative and qualitative results. This strategic approach to variety selection continues to play a key role in boosting regional food production and ensuring a stable supply of this staple crop.
