The World Potato Congress Inc. has announced a call for Expressions of Interest (EOI) from parties interested in hosting the 15th and 16th World Potato Congresses, scheduled for 2030 and 2032. Due to overwhelming interest, the organization has introduced a preliminary EOI stage to reduce the significant resources typically required for developing full proposals. A key eligibility requirement is that bids must be supported by a potato industry-affiliated organization; submissions from professional conference organizers (PCOs) without a direct connection to the regional potato sector will not be considered.
Since its inception in Charlottetown, Canada, in 1993, the World Potato Congress has grown into the premier international gathering for the global potato industry, attracting approximately 1,000 delegates and partners from over 40 countries. Held biennially, the congress provides a powerful platform for promoting potato production, agriculture, business, and tourism in the host country. Interested parties have until June 30, 2026, to submit their EOI questionnaires. Following a shortlisting process and a request for proposals (RFP) stage, site visits are anticipated for early 2027, with the final decision on the 2030 and 2032 hosts expected in July 2027.
