The Minister of Agriculture of the Republic, Ibrahim Abdurakhmanov, said that this problem is becoming more and more serious. Even the shortage of water in Uzbekistan may soon fade into the background, although most of the failures of industry representatives are associated with it.
The authorities are greatly concerned about the ill-considered actions of local farmers. Choosing to plant crops without analyzing market requirements, only at their own discretion, farmers constantly suffer losses due to their overproduction.
In the spring of this year, tons of onions rotted in Uzbek fields, which were not in demand on the market. And such a practice, when they do not even try to harvest the crop, leaving it in the ground, becomes commonplace.
According to the Minister of Ecology Aziz Abdukhakimov, such an approach to agriculture is unacceptable. First of all, it is necessary to prevent the conversion of crops grown by farmers into waste. It is unacceptable to waste huge land and water resources by producing food that will not reach consumers.
