The Savkov Brothers’ Farm Becomes One of the Largest Potato Producers in Kirov Oblast
The Savkov brothers’ farm from Kotelnich has joined the ranks of the largest potato producers in Kirov Oblast, cultivating approximately 800 hectares of land. Of this area, 600 hectares are sown with grain and leguminous crops, 106 hectares are allocated to potatoes, and another 20 hectares are devoted to beets and carrots. Each year, the farmers harvest between 3,000 and 3,500 tonnes of potatoes and about 600 tonnes of vegetables, making a significant contribution to the region’s total agricultural output.
The enterprise benefits from subsidies for the production of potatoes, vegetables, and grain, as well as partial reimbursement of costs for machinery and equipment. In 2019, Anna Savkova, the wife of Nikita Savkov, won the “Agrostartup” competition and received a grant of 3 million rubles, which was used to expand production and purchase machinery. The Savkov family’s achievements have been recognized at a high level: the farm was awarded the title of “Best Family Farming Dynasty” and a silver medal at the All-Russian Agro-Industrial Exhibition “Golden Autumn 2024.”
