LLC Scorpion was founded in 1998 on the basis of the Denisovs dinasty farm situated in the Bezenchuksky dis-trict of Samara region. With the formation of “Scorpion” the priority of further activities was determined — growing pota-toes and other vegetables on the reclaimed lands. It all started with 300 hectares of land near the Olgino vil-lage. A period of active development of the enterprise start-ed in 2005, after gaining some experience and improving the vegetable production technologies. It was then that a period of active development of the enterprise began; the area of the cultivated lands and the gross output increased abruptly. The company also purchased a lot of modern highly efficient equipment during that period.

The “Samarskie ovoshi (Samara Vegetables)” group of companies emerged after the separation of specialized structures from LLC Scorpion in order to optimize manage-ment. Today it consists of LLC Scorpion and LLC Vesna (General Director is Anton Vladimirovich Denisov) which are engaged in growing, processing and pre-sale preparation of agricultural products. Group of companies also includes LLC Samarskiy vinograd (General Director is Aleksey Sergeevich Zuykov) which is engaged in grape growing, LLC Samarsk-ie ovoshi which is responsible for realization of products and logistics, LLC AgroStroy which is carrying out reconstruction of melioration systems and building of vegetable stores. We have three production bases: Bezenchuk, Olgino and Pe-sochnoe. The total arable land area is 5509 hectares, and all the lands are reclaimed. Only about 1500 hectares are occu-pied with potatoes this year. Other most demanded vegeta-bles are also grown: 400 hectares for onions, 550 hectares for carrots, 400 hectares for beets, 140 hectares for cabbages, 200 hectares for Jerusalem artichokes, and 75 hectares for grapes.

In 2016, a new direction for deep processing of veg-etables was launched at LLC Scorpion. Emphasis was placed on the production of dried vegetables. What we plan to do is to increase the volume of fresh vegetables processing up to 100 tons per day.

New wine region — Samara region

Until quite recently the Volgograd Region was the most north-ern wine-producing enterprise in Russia which had a license. In 2020, a new point appeared on the wine map of our coun-try — on October 1, the young Denisov winery, located near the Olgino village, Bezenchuksky district, Samara region, received a license for the production of table and sparkling grape wines. The first vineyards were established in 2013, fol-lowed by additional plantings in 2014 and 2017. The area of vineyards at the moment is 75 hectares, of which 57 hectares are for technical grape sorts, the remaining 18 hectares — for table sorts.

We are undoubtedly the leader in the production of potatoes in Samara region and occupy leading positions in Russia. Warehouses of our vegetable stores allow to store up to 150 thousand tons of products at a time, and the capacity of the distribution center makes it possible to ship up to 700 tons of products daily, of which 200 tons is washed products, which is very important today for successful sales. The “Samarskie ovoshi (Samara Vegetables)” closely coop-erates with large retailers such as Magnit, Auchan and X5. About 15 years ago it became clear that trade would be driven by large federal and regional networks. Large-scale whole-salers providing the required assortment of vegetables would take advantage in cooperating with retailers. That’s why we have chosen for ourselves a large wholesale as the main di-rection in implementation. We have learned a lot from retail-ers, especially in the field of pre-sale preparation of products. Today much attention is paid to ensure products quality and safety.

In our understanding, the ‘mission’ of our organization a few years ago was to preserve the village and its social support, and now the ‘mission’ is to ensure the food security of our country, and thanks to all employees of the ‘Samarskie ovoshi (Samara Vegetables)’ group of companies, we are doing it successfully.
