Farmers in Saratov Region have completed potato planting for this season. According to the regional Ministry of Agriculture, 710 hectares were allocated to the crop in the organized sector of the agro-industrial complex, matching last year’s level. The largest potato areas are located in Engelssky District, accounting for 580 hectares, followed by Sovetsky District with 55 hectares and Lysogorsky District with 50 hectares. Agricultural producers have carried out all field operations within the optimal agrotechnical timeframe.
As part of the federal project “Development of Vegetable and Potato Growing,” potato farmers in the region received state support exceeding five million rubles to stimulate production increases. Minister of Agriculture Vasily Kotov noted that this tangible and effective measure helps reduce financial burdens and ensures timely agrotechnical work year after year. Looking ahead, potato production in the region’s organized sector is expected to grow by 18% by 2030, while vegetable crop production volumes are projected to increase by 20%.
