Specialists from the Rosselkhoztsentr branch for the Moscow region have inspected 11 domestic seed potato varieties in greenhouses near Dmitrov, assessing whether the plants are true to type, healthy, and ready for propagation. The work was carried out at the facilities of Doka-Gennye Tekhnologii, a company in the Dmitrov district that develops new potato varieties using biotechnology and artificial intelligence to speed up the selection of the best plants. The inspection was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Moscow Region.

Approval during the second growth period is a mandatory step: it confirms that the crop can be further propagated and sold as seed. Experts walked the entire greenhouse area and took evenly distributed samples, checking for diseases and pests and verifying that each plant matched its declared variety. Among those inspected were six promising samples still under trial and five already registered varieties — Karmen, Atletik, Sarmat, Indigo, and Agronavt. Official acts are issued based on the results, confirming that the potatoes meet standards and can be used as seed material. The regional agriculture ministry stresses the importance of developing domestic seed breeding and production capacity, which reduces dependence on foreign supplies, while modern technologies help ensure the seeds are high-quality and suited to farmers’ needs.
