Heavy rainfall prevented residents of the region from harvesting potatoes according to the usual schedule. The soil does not have time to dry out, there is water in the fields, equipment is difficult to pass. As a result, the work is extremely slow.
Rains in August and September also prevented grain harvesting in the region. In early autumn, an emergency regime was introduced here due to the threat of crop loss.
The weather does not change dramatically, and forecasts for the end of the harvest are unfavorable. By the beginning of the third decade of September, local farmers were able to dig up about 30 percent of the tubers. If early frosts come, the potatoes will remain in the field.
According to the authorities, today the crop harvest is almost two times less than that harvested in the Tomsk region a year ago.
