According to data from Krasnoyarskstat, the average resident of the Krasnoyarsk Region consumes approximately 62 kilograms of potatoes per year. This information was released in connection with the celebration of National Boiled Potato Day, observed on April 26. Interestingly, the majority of the region’s harvest comes from private citizens, with gardeners and allotment owners accounting for about 75% of the total potato volume.
Last year, the Krasnoyarsk Region ranked seventh among the largest potato producers in the country, with a total harvest of around 504,000 tons — a 4% increase compared to the previous year. For context, the neighboring Republic of Khakassia harvested 73,000 tons, while the Republic of Tyva produced 15,000 tons. Meanwhile, the average resident of Khakassia consumes 72 kg of potatoes per year, whereas in Tyva, that figure stands at 42 kg.
