After severe floods left many residents of Dagestan without planting materials and the ability to farm their land, the republic’s Ministry of Agriculture turned to the People’s Front for help. The response was swift: Bryansk and Astrakhan regions collected about 60 tons of seed potatoes for affected families, and the People’s Front organized the delivery. Bryansk Region contributed 40 tons of its best varieties, while Astrakhan sent nearly 20 tons. The cargo is now being distributed among residents of cities and districts so they can restore their farms this season. “People need help. Today we are loading seeds — the best variety we have,” said the head of a farm from Bryansk.
Acting Minister of Agriculture of Dagestan Shamil Ramazanov thanked the People’s Front for the real support, noting that three districts have already received the planting material. First Deputy Minister Sharip Sharipov emphasized that this is not just food aid but a true symbol of national unity. “High-quality varietal potatoes will allow Dagestani families to harvest good crops and multiply the seeds. Bryansk Region is a leading potato supplier, Astrakhan and many others extended a helping hand in a difficult moment. This year has been declared the Year of Unity of Russia’s Peoples, and we see that these are not empty words,” Sharipov said. Two more shipments of humanitarian aid are expected in the coming days.
