Penza Governor Visits Seed Potato Enterprise, Awards Local Workers for Agricultural Excellence

On Wednesday, July 15, 2026, Governor Oleg Melnichenko made a working visit to the Vadinsky District, where he toured a local enterprise specialized in growing Russian-bred seed potatoes. The farm’s produce is in high demand across multiple Russian regions, including Rostov and Astrakhan Oblasts. During his visit, the Governor honored four employees for their dedicated service and contributions to the region’s agricultural development, awarding them the second-class medal of the Order of Merit for the Region. Among the recipients was mechanized operator Sergey Suchkov, who has been driving tractors and combines since 1988 and noted that the seasonal workload often requires overtime, with his brother also working in the agricultural sector.

Governor Melnichenko emphasized the strategic importance of domestic seed potato production for Russia’s food security and reassured the farmers that issues regarding diesel fuel shortages would be addressed in the near future.
