In the Predgorny District of Stavropol Krai, local farmers are cultivating more than 30 different varieties of potatoes, according to the municipal administration’s press service. This season, agricultural producers have increased the land dedicated to the crop by 20%, bringing the total area to nearly 2,000 hectares. The main centers of potato farming in the district include the stanitsas of Borgustanskaya and Suvorovskaya, as well as the village of Vinsady and the khutor of Novoborgustansky.
The harvested potatoes are supplied to stores and markets not only within Stavropol Krai but also to other regions of Russia. Local authorities noted that last year’s potato harvest in the district exceeded 50,000 tons, underscoring the success and potential of this agricultural sector. The expansion of cultivated areas and the wide range of potato varieties continue to drive growth in the region’s farming industry.
