Oman: Muscat Chips Starts 300 kg/h Potato Chip Line and Orders a Second Line

Snack maker Mohammed Riaz & Partner has launched the Muscat Chips brand in Oman with a 300 kg per hour potato chip line from TNA Solutions, the companies say. A second line is already ordered.

A new potato chip brand, Muscat Chips, has started production in Oman. Equipment maker TNA Solutions announced on 23 September 2026 that it supplied a complete potato chip line to Mohammed Riaz & Partner LLC (MR), the company behind the brand. The line makes 300 kg of chips per hour, the companies say.

According to TNA, the line includes washing, peeling, slicing and blanching equipment, a fryer, a seasoning system, distribution conveyors and a packing machine. It also has metal detection and date coding. The line supports 24 products (SKUs) and can pack up to 120 pillow bags of 12 g per minute.

Fahad Mohammed Riaz, vice chairman of MR, said TNA took full responsibility for the whole project. Palani Karai, general manager for the Middle East and North Africa at TNA Solutions, also commented in the announcement. MR has already ordered a second potato chip line, but the companies gave no timetable or capacity for it.

The companies did not disclose the investment value or the exact location of the factory in Oman. They also did not say where the plant will buy its potatoes.

Why it matters

Oman grows only a small amount of potatoes. A local chip plant will need a steady supply of potatoes with the right dry matter and low sugar. This supply will likely come from imports or from farms in the region. This creates a new buyer for chip-quality potatoes in the Gulf.

Small lines of 300 kg per hour are common for new snack brands. They allow a company to test the market with many flavours and small packs before it builds more capacity. The early order for a second line suggests the company expects demand to grow.

All details come from the equipment supplier’s announcement. Production volumes and sales have not been confirmed by independent sources.
