The Nizhny Novgorod Region aims to harvest 412,000 tons of potatoes in 2026, according to the regional Ministry of Agriculture and Food. In addition, local farmers plan to produce 1.5 million tons of grain and leguminous crops, 31,600 tons of open-field vegetables, and 70,000 tons of oilseed crops. Officials noted that these target figures roughly maintain the level of the previous year.
For the spring fieldwork season, the region has already purchased 27,800 tons of mineral fertilizers, with procurement continuing. The 2026 budget allocates 607 million rubles for a comprehensive set of land reclamation measures. Separately, Russian Agriculture Minister Oksana Lut reported that floods in Dagestan caused 640 million rubles in damage to agriculture, affecting farmland, vineyards, and part of the livestock population, especially in private household plots.
