On Wednesday afternoon, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in Jeddah as part of a state visit to Saudi Arabia, where he held talks with the Crown Prince of the Kingdom, Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud. This was reported by the press service of the head of the republic.
So, at the international airport named after King Abdulaziz Mirziyoyev, the leaders of the province of Mecca, the Minister of Investments Khalid al-Falih and other officials met.
Later, in the palace “Kasr al-Salam” in the city of Jeddah, an official meeting ceremony was held for the President of Uzbekistan. There, the head of the republic was met by the Crown Prince of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud.
The Uzbek leader conveyed greetings and best wishes to King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. During the talks, the parties noted the intensification of contacts at different levels, as well as regular meetings of the Intergovernmental Commission and the Business Council. It is known that the trade turnover between the two states is growing, and joint ventures are also being created.
The President of Uzbekistan expressed confidence that his first state visit to Saudi Arabia would open up wide opportunities for relations between the two countries to reach a new level, in particular, in the trade and economic sphere.
Mirziyoyev and Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud also discussed issues of further expansion of mutually beneficial ties in the political, investment, cultural and humanitarian spheres.
In addition, the parties stressed the need to create even more favorable conditions for building up business contacts, increasing volumes, and diversifying the structure of mutual trade. It was decided to introduce visa-free entry to Uzbekistan for citizens of Saudi Arabia.
“I am sure that today’s historic meeting will serve as a powerful signal to enrich our cooperation and strengthen business ties. The businessmen of our countries are looking forward to the results of our negotiations,” Mirziyoyev said.
Particular attention at the meeting was paid to strengthening cultural and humanitarian ties. Also, the head of Uzbekistan and the crown prince exchanged views on topical issues of the international and regional agenda.
Among other things, Mirziyoyev welcomed the receipt by Saudi Arabia of the status of a dialogue partner in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
As a result of the talks, the signed documents were exchanged. A joint statement was adopted on the further expansion of full-scale partnership relations between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
At the level of governments and ministries of the two countries, 15 documents on cooperation were signed in such areas as energy, customs, civil aviation, tourism, agriculture, healthcare, labor relations and others.
In honor of the visit of the head of Uzbekistan, a state reception was given on behalf of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
