Krasnoyarskstat shared information on potato production in the regions of the Yenisei Siberia. According to experts, this agricultural crop is cultivated in all regions of the Yenisei Siberia. However, the main volume of potatoes is produced by the population.
Thus, in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, households accounted for 82% of the sown area. The TOP-5 territories where agricultural organizations are engaged in the cultivation of potatoes in large volumes include: Berezovsky, Sukhobuzimsky, Emelyanovsky and Minusinsky districts.
Last year, farms of all categories planted 31.1 thousand hectares with root crops. We dug up 509 thousand tons of potatoes, 109 thousand tons less compared to 2020, the yield was 163.7 centners per hectare.
Each resident of the region ate an average of 56 kilograms of potatoes in 2020.
In 2021, potato prices in the region increased by 72.5%.
In neighboring Khakassia, the population also makes a significant contribution to solving the issue of food security and growing a second bread. The share of farms of the population of the republic in 2021 accounted for 93% of the area under potato. In Tuva – 69% of the sown area.
According to preliminary data from the micro-agricultural census, which took place in Russia in 2021, the total sown area for potatoes, in the whole agricultural sector of the country, decreased by 20% over five years.
Now the process of import substitution is actively underway, in connection with this, the efforts of agricultural specialists are aimed at quickly breeding new varieties of potatoes that are adapted to the soil and climatic conditions of the regions of the Yenisei Siberia.
