Maine: Green Meadow Farms Expands Packing Capacity With a New 9,500 sq ft Wash Line Building

Green Meadow Farms, Inc., a third-generation family grower, packer and distributor based in Mapleton, Aroostook County, Maine, has completed the exterior shell of a new 9,500-square-foot (about 880 m²) facility expansion. The company announced this on its LinkedIn page as the 2026 potato growing season wraps up.

According to the company, the new building will house an upgraded wash line and give the business the floor space to scale its processing capabilities. Green Meadow Farms lists three operational goals for the project:

• Versatility. Broader packaging throughput for both retail and wholesale partners.
• Bulk handling. More efficient staging and handling for bulk customers in the potato processing sector.
• Post-harvest flow. Streamlined logistics and quality-control workflows after harvest.

The company says installation of the new equipment and internal infrastructure is the next step. It has not published the line’s capacity, the equipment supplier or the investment amount.

On its website, Green Meadow Farms describes itself as a business that “grows, packs, sells and distributes” Maine potatoes and local produce. It also markets crops from partner farms in the region and supplies customers across Maine, New England and beyond. The company is listed among the dealers of the Maine Potato Board.

Why it matters

Aroostook County is the heart of Maine’s potato industry. For mid-sized grower-packers there, washing and packing capacity is often the bottleneck between a good harvest and a good price. A single building that serves retail bags and bulk loads for processors lets the business move volume between these two channels, depending on which pays better in a given season.
