Kazakhstan’s Zhetisu Region Produces First-Ever Potato Crop Destined for Chips
The “Kendala” farm in Kokshetau district, Zhetisu region, has harvested Kazakhstan’s first potato crop grown specifically for chip production. The variety “VR 808” was planted on 33 hectares, yielding 23–25 t/ha with a dry matter content of 21–25% — key parameters for processing quality. None of the crop is being placed into storage: 20–25 tonnes per day are moving directly to the processor, with the sales outlet agreed before planting even began. Encouraged by the results, the farm plans to expand its chip-dedicated acreage to 80 hectares in 2027.
