Restrain’s Latest Innovation Enhances Quality, Reduces Costs, and Supports Environmental Sustainability

Restrain is proud to announce the launch of its new Precision Ethylene Treatment (PET) Technology, a cutting-edge advancement designed to elevate the quality of potato storage while minimizing costs and environmental impact. This breakthrough comes as part of Restrain’s comprehensive development and improvement program undertaken over the past 12 months.

The Precision Ethylene Treatment (PET) Technology represents a significant leap forward in the management of potato storage conditions. By allowing precise dosing and control of ethylene at parts-per-billion levels, the PET Technology ensures an optimal atmosphere within potato storage facilities. This level of control is crucial for preserving the quality of potatoes, reducing spoilage, and maintaining their freshness over extended periods.

Key features of the PET Technology include:

  • Enhanced Precision: The PET system offers unparalleled accuracy in ethylene management, which is essential for maintaining the desired storage environment and extending the shelf life of potatoes.
  • Cost Efficiency: The new sensor and control technology integrated into the PET system not only improves precision but also reduces ethanol consumption. This decrease in consumption translates to cost savings for operators and a reduction in environmental impact.
  • Environmental Benefits: By optimizing the use of ethylene and minimizing waste, the PET Technology supports more sustainable storage practices, aligning with Restrain’s commitment to environmental stewardship.

The PET Technology is set to be available for the 2024/2025 potato storage season. Restrain’s team, including tech expert and potato grower Bram Luijkx, is currently updating generators with the new software to ensure a smooth rollout. The first installations are already underway in Brazil, with shipments to Europe scheduled to follow soon.

As Restrain continues to innovate and improve its offerings, stakeholders in the potato industry can look forward to more updates and advancements. For the latest news and information, interested parties are encouraged to stay tuned and follow Restrain’s developments.
