Modi Inaugurates Expanded Banas Dairy French Fries Plant in Gujarat, Capacity Rises to 5 Tonnes/Hour
Capacity at the Sanadar plant rises from 2 to 5 tonnes of fries per hour after a ₹51.65 crore expansion inaugurated remotely by PM Modi.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi remotely inaugurated an expanded French fries plant at Banas Dairy’s facility in Sanadar, Deodar taluka, Banaskantha district, Gujarat, on 30 October 2026, raising its processing capacity from 2 to 5 tonnes of fries per hour, PotatoPro reported.
The ₹51.65 crore (roughly $5.5–6 million) expansion is part of a wider potato-processing push by Banas Dairy, a cooperative in the Amul network, in Banaskantha district, which produced 1.87 million tonnes of potatoes from 61,016 hectares in 2024-25. The original plant opened in April 2022; the current expansion began in April 2026.
Modi also marked the start of work on 12 approved horticulture clusters covering about 146,000 hectares nationwide — two of them in North Gujarat — and highlighted 521 completed Agriculture Infrastructure Fund projects worth about ₹4,950 crore, including cold stores and food-processing units.
