Potato planting has begun in Mordovia. As in the past year, in addition to the population, agricultural enterprises and farmers will again be engaged in the cultivation of “second bread”. But, apparently, the increase in prices for potatoes in the retail trade will not affect the increase in the area under it.
According to the regional Ministry of Agriculture and Food, potatoes this year will be cultivated by agricultural enterprises and farmers in seven districts, and the total area under it will be 368 hectares. Despite the fact that only 6 districts grew potatoes a year earlier, this time they will plant 21 hectares less.
The largest areas – 120 hectares – will be occupied in the fields of the Temnikovsky district. 85 hectares of “second bread” will be planted in Oktyabrsky, 80 hectares in Atyashevsky, 60 hectares in Chamzinsky districts. Dubentsy plan to plant 20 hectares of potatoes, which is 25 hectares less than last year.
