Agriterra’s collaborative farming approach is being used in Rwanda to improve potato farming practices, reports Iradukunda Olivier. As part of this approach, farmers from different potato value chain cooperatives went on an inter-farm exchange trip to meet other farmers through the Famer Potato Academy (FPA) and improve their farming skills and practices.

Famer Potato Academy (FPA) provides farmers with the opportunity to learn and share best practices in potato farming. The goal of the program is to increase yields, product quality and farmers’ incomes. During the exchange trip, farmers can learn about advanced potato cultivation methods, new technologies and innovative approaches to potato farm management.

Meetings with other farmers allow participants to exchange knowledge and experience, as well as learn about best practices and solutions used in other regions. Farmers can discuss the problems they face in their work and find joint solutions. Such exchange of experience and knowledge contributes to the development of agriculture and improves the living standards of farmers.

One of the main principles of the Agriterra approach is cooperation and interaction between farmers. Instead of competing, farmers can band together and share information and resources to improve their practices and achieve greater success. This approach helps strengthen Rwandan agriculture and improve farmers’ living standards.

The Famer Potato Academy (FPA) exchange trip is a significant event for farmers who are looking to improve their farming skills and practices. They gain valuable knowledge that they can apply to their farms to improve the efficiency and profitability of their business.

Potato is one of the main crops in Rwanda, and improving cultivation practices for this crop is of great importance for agricultural development in the country. Through Agriterra’s approach and Famer Potato Academy (FPA), farmers can gain the knowledge and skills they need to meet challenges and improve their productivity.

Through farmers’ efforts, collaboration and sharing of experiences, agriculture in Rwanda can reach new heights in potato production. Iradukunda Olivier and other farmers participating in the Famer Potato Academy (FPA) program are important drivers of this development and will continue to improve their skills and farming techniques to ensure the prosperity of their farms and the entire industry.
