Giving exactly the input your crop needs is the key to the best harvest. Year after year. They know that too at Finnigan’s Farm, one of Ireland’s largest potato and vegetable growers. In their continuous search for ways to make their crops even healthier, they ended up at Topcon.

Remarkable Results at Finnigan’s Farm

In a written case and a concise video, the farm owner, tech supplier and agrospecialist who hired Finnigan’s Farm to teach them how to monitor their crops explain how CropSpec – Topcon’s farming solution – helps them map the health of the crop below the ground and the variable adjustment of fertilization and watering to the measured condition. All three professionals called the results “remarkable” and expect to see immediate benefits from this technology next year .

Future-proof response to sustainable agriculture requirements

control future potato harvest

Paul Ward, agronomist at FarmTech Solutions who was hired by Finnigan’s Farm, explains in the video: “CropSpec makes crop agronomy more efficient for harvest. With this technology we can precisely coordinate the required amounts of water and fertilizer. This not only makes the soil and the crop healthier. It also ensures a better harvest and offers a future-proof answer to the increasingly strict sustainability requirements imposed on agriculture.”

SPRAYING – Topcon solutions provide exceptional control for 4 to 8 fertilizers on both trailed and self-propelled sprayers. It is enough to use an existing map or import a new one, turn on auto guidance – and get to work. The X25 and X35 consoles offer customizable display of application speed, as well as logging paths and other functions. ASC-10 solution provides auto control for 10 sections; this number can be increased to 30 by hanging three ASC-10 modules. The X25 solution controls the dosing rate for 4 products and the X35 solution for 8 products.

This solution allows you to streamline your entire workflow. The auto-guidance component allows you to work faster and cover a large area in a day, while improving coverage accuracy. Automatic section control improves the quality of fertilizer use by eliminating double passes and skips and applying the product at the right place. Dosing rate control optimizes fertilizer and chemical application. Finally, fertilizer application maps and logs provide accurate information on field cultivation, saving office workers time.

Topcon spreader solutions – -Customers can choose the level of accuracy they want, down to 2cm, using our best control console and advanced auto guidance solution. The ISO UT system, with support for dosing speed control for 8 products and auto-control for 32 sections, is the ideal solution for both trailed and self-propelled sprayers. You can import dosing rate maps and record cards for dosing assignment, as well as create logs of actually applied fertilizers – the entire document flow is fully automated. If a constant sprayer boom height is required, it is sufficient to add the NORAC boom alignment system, which is fully compatible with Topcon equipment.

Topcon spreader solutions offer tremendous power and precision and provide the finest control for a wide variety of applications. Ease of control is one of the main advantages of this solution. The metering rate can be controlled from imported metering maps or by creating real-time fertilizer maps. Dosing maps for dosing speed control / auto section control, together with high precision / stable auto guidance, allow you to do what you need, at the right speed, at the right time and in the right place.

crop sensor technology to measure nutrient requirements for best harvest

Using crop sensor technology to measure nutrient requirements for best harvest is one of the fastest growing segments in precision farming. Topcon Crop Sensors are used with the X20 and X35 consoles to track changes in the field. Data can be processed on the fly or saved for later analysis and batch map creation.

By combining a spraying and spreading solution with the advanced CropSpec sensors, you can ensure that fertilizer is added according to crop needs. On-the-fly adjustments using user-defined targets, create batch maps, or schedule and apply in a single pass. GNSS auto-guidance and CropSpec sensors provide 24/7 operation. You can fertilize your fields on a schedule to apply the nutrients you need at the moment, or apply fertilizer on the eve of rain to improve the efficiency of the process.
