Haitai Confectionery announced on July 8 that it has collaborated with Japanese potato chip manufacturer Kalubi to introduce a new product: “Kalubi Potato Chips Salmon Sushi Flavor.” This marks the second release in the “Tastes of Japan in Korea” series, following the popular “Yakiniku (Grilled Meat) Flavor.” The new chips feature a seasoning blend made from salmon and wasabi, meticulously crafted to replicate the authentic taste of salmon sushi. Additionally, the inclusion of brewed soy sauce flavor recreates the experience of dipping sushi into soy sauce before eating. To ensure the highest quality, the company used domestic new potatoes harvested in Korea, with 100% fresh potatoes as the raw ingredient. According to Haitai, this preserves the natural potato flavor and delivers a satisfyingly crispy texture that sets these chips apart from conventional snack products.
To celebrate the product launch, Haitai Confectionery is running a special prize promotion. Consumers can enter a random code found inside each package on the promotion website for a chance to win travel vouchers worth up to 1 million won and AirPods through a random drawing. The Kalubi potato chip brand has been steadily expanding its presence in Korea’s premium snack market, leveraging its distinctive Japanese flavors and creative concepts to attract adventurous snack lovers. With the salmon sushi flavor, the company continues to bridge Korean and Japanese culinary traditions, offering consumers an exciting fusion experience. By combining authentic Japanese taste profiles with locally sourced Korean potatoes, Haitai Confectionery aims to strengthen its position in the competitive snack industry while delighting customers with innovative, high-quality offerings that celebrate seasonal ingredients and cross-cultural flavors.
