Gujarat-based potato exporter M S International India Private Limited has marked the start of the state’s new potato planting season, saying in a LinkedIn post that fields are being readied even as daytime temperatures remain higher than usual for early November.

Salauddin Modasiya, posting on behalf of M S International, wrote: “A New Potato Farming Season Begins in Gujarat! The fields are getting ready, farmers are preparing for planting and a new season of hope is beginning.” He added that “daytime temperatures are still relatively high and the weather has not cooled down as much as expected,” which he said makes “proper planting time, soil moisture management and seed care even more important.”

“For farmers, every season brings new challenges, but experience, planning and the right practices make the difference,” the post continued. “At M S International India Private Limited, we believe that a successful harvest starts with the right preparation.” The post closed with a wish for “a healthy crop and a successful season ahead” for all farmers.

Who is behind the post. M S International is a potato exporter and processor based in Modasa, in Gujarat’s Aravalli district, sourcing potatoes from farmers within roughly 50 km of the town. The company traces its roots to a family grocery and grain-trading business founded in the 1960s; it was set up as a dedicated potato export operation in 2017, starting with a single shipment to Oman. It now ships to around ten countries, including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia and Hong Kong, alongside domestic customers, and operates cold storage facilities in the region. In October 2025 it launched a frozen french-fry brand, Eagle Fries, and was a sponsor of the Global Potato Summit 2025.

Gujarat’s place in India’s potato map. Gujarat is one of India’s leading potato-growing states, with Banaskantha and Sabarkantha among its largest producing districts, followed by Aravalli, Gandhinagar, Patan and Mehsana. In the state’s most recently reported Rabi season (2025–26), authorities recorded planted potato area rising from around 125,000 hectares the previous year to roughly 148,000 hectares by early December, a 13% increase attributed to favourable conditions, with officials saying the area could reach about 160,000 hectares. Potatoes.News has not seen comparable official sowing figures yet for the season that M S International’s post describes as now beginning.

The post itself is a single company’s seasonal message rather than an official crop report, and it gives no specific acreage, yield or temperature figures for the new season — only a general note that daytime heat has been slower than usual to ease. How this year’s planting window compares with the pattern of the last Rabi season will depend on district-level weather and sowing data that is not yet available.
