German manufacturer Grimme has introduced the PRIOS 440 potato planter, a machine engineered to consolidate seven key field operations into a single pass: soil cultivation, fertilizer application, liquid chemical application, microgranule placement, planting, ridge formation, and erosion protection. This integrated approach is aimed at reducing the number of passes across the field, thereby cutting fuel consumption, labor costs, and soil compaction—an increasingly important consideration as growers face tighter margins and stricter environmental requirements.
