The German potato trade meets in Hamburg on 29 September 2026. The German Potato Trade Association (DKHV) holds its 73rd International Potato Autumn Exchange at Hotel Hafen Hamburg, Seewartenstraße 9. Doors open at 16:30 and the programme starts at 17:00.

The DKHV sent its press release to potatoes.news on 17 September. The association says the event gives a current view of the potato sector and the issues it faces.

Who speaks

  • Dr Melanie Leonhard, Hamburg Senator for Economy, Labour and Innovation.
  • Christoph Hambloch of Agrarmarkt Informationsgesellschaft (AMI). He will present current market developments and an outlook for the coming months.
  • Thomas Herkenrath, President of the DKHV.

Harvest data comes first

The timing is deliberate. The Federal Ministry of Agriculture (BMLEH) planned to publish preliminary 2026 harvest results on 23 September, based on its special harvest and quality surveys. Traders will therefore arrive in Hamburg with official figures on volume and quality.

Our report on the first official German harvest estimate was published on 26 September.

The exchange brings together trade, packing, breeding, processing and technology companies. Registration is open online at herbstboerse.dkhv.org. The fee is €149 for DKHV members and €185 for non-members, including VAT.

Why it matters

This is the main autumn meeting of the German potato trade. It comes in a season with a much smaller crop and firm prices. The AMI outlook will be watched for signals on storage, contract prices and export supply in the months ahead.
