These statistics are reflected in the growing popularity of hybrid flavor experiences, such as “swicy” (sweet and spicy) and “swalcy” (sweet, salty, and spicy), which combine different taste profiles to create new, exciting culinary experiences. For example, “hot honey,” a fusion of sweet, spicy, and savory, has been gaining attention and aligning with the emerging trend for more complex flavor combinations.

This flavor evolution is evident in the U.S. snack market as well, with flavored potato chips experiencing significant growth. In fact, during the 2024-2030 period, the flavored potato chips segment is expected to witness the highest CAGR in the U.S. market. Companies like Lay’s are capitalizing on this trend, as seen with their February 2024 launch of Lay’s Sweet & Spicy Honey flavored chips, a perfect example of the growing consumer preference for “swicy” flavors.

Synergy Flavors’ portfolio caters to this shift, offering a variety of heat and fire flavors such as sweet habanero, chipotle, hot chili, and spicy smoky tomato, alongside culinary pastes like peri peri and sweet chili. These products are designed to elevate the flavor intensity of snacks, ready meals, sauces, and a variety of other food applications.
