Residents of Astrakhan will be able to buy early locally grown potatoes as early as July 1, 2026, according to the Astrakhan Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, citing signed framework agreements on product supplies. The planting campaign in the region began in late March and continues throughout spring. Data from the Ministry of Agriculture of the Astrakhan Region shows that 3,106 hectares have been allocated for potato cultivation in 2026, with farms achieving 100% seed supply, allowing seasonal work to proceed as planned.
The union notes that by early July, a stable supply of early new-harvest potatoes traditionally appears on the regional market. Preliminary estimates put the starting price between 80 and 100 rubles per kilogram, with prices expected to decline as supply volumes increase. Early potatoes remain one of the most sought-after seasonal vegetables, and Astrakhan producers annually supply both the regional domestic market and other regions of the country.
