Farmers in three districts of Russia’s Bryansk region – Starodubsky, Navlinsky, and Brasovsky – have begun active harvesting of early potatoes, with a total of 37,000 hectares planted across the region. The harvest progress was inspected by Deputy Governor Boris Gribanov, who visited the Starodubsky district alongside regional agriculture department head Sergei Simonenko, regional legislator Denis Svistunov, and local administration head Alexander Podolny. At the agricultural enterprise “Krasny Oktyabr,” the delegation discussed grain harvesting progress. Although weather conditions caused a slight delay in the start of work, yield forecasts remain optimistic, with grain and potato production expected to match last year’s levels. Gribanov emphasized that farmers are fully supplied with all necessary resources, including fuel and lubricants.
At the Svistunov farm, visitors observed the potato harvesting process firsthand. According to Denis Svistunov, early variety yields have already reached 300 centners per hectare and are expected to rise to 500–600 centners per hectare in the near future. The farm has significantly expanded its planted area, adding 130 hectares compared to previous seasons. Concluding the visit, Boris Gribanov highlighted that the Bryansk region maintains its leadership in potato production across Russia, ensuring food security for both the region and the country. As previously reported by regional authorities, spring field work was carried out within optimal agronomic timelines, and weather conditions remain favorable for crop maturation. The harvest campaign began on schedule in the second half of July, so no significant losses are anticipated.
