Sales of seed potatoes in the Novosibirsk region in the spring of 2022 increased by 15-20% compared to the spring of 2021, local agrotech companies said.
In April-May 2022, the demand for seed potatoes increased in the Novosibirsk region. Agrotechnological firms (ATFs) say that compared to last year, the growth was 15-20% and cannot be called seasonal.
“We see an increase in interest in planting material from farmers who have small areas, from medium and large vegetable farms. The population also began to buy more, this spring our outlets sold a lot of seed potatoes to private individuals – those who will plant them in their dachas and gardens,” Pavel Potapov, executive director of ATF Agros LLC, told BFM-Novosibirsk.
The price of a kilogram of seed potatoes increased by 5-10 rubles due to increased demand, depending on the category, he added.
